twenty-twenty hindsight 復習
メモの中にあった表現から取り上げます。twenty-twenty hindsightです。twenty-twentyからtwenty-twenty visionという表現が頭に浮かびましたが、意味の予測までは至りませんでした。以下辞書の定義です。
Merriam Webster: “the full knowledge and complete understanding that one has about an event only after it has happened”
LDOCE: “used to say that it is easy to know what you should have done in a situation after it has happened, but you did not know what to do earlier”
『ジーニアス英和辞典』第5版（大修館）：「使われずじまいのあとの知恵」
hindsight単体でも「あとの知恵」を意味しますが、『ジーニアス英和大辞典』（大修館）を見てみるとtwenty-twenty hindsightで「鋭いあと知恵；手遅れになってからの鋭い洞察力」との記載があり、違いが見て取れます。上記との比較のためにMerriam Websterによるhindsightの定義も載せておきます。 “perception of the nature of an event after it has happened”
また同じような表現にhindsight is 20-20という諺があります。意味は『ジーニアス英和大辞典』（大修館）によると「あとの知恵は完璧《悪い事が起きたあとで、それを避けるのにあれこれできたと言うのはたやすいことだ、ということ》」とのことです。（ko-chi @ Calgary）
