Heatstroke is generally seen as a condition developed in summer, but the risk is also high in the dry winter season, when people often fail to sufficiently replace the moisture their body has lost.

Heatstroke is believed to have led to the death of an elderly couple in Osaka who drowned in December last year while taking a bath together at home. Experts say people should take the same precautions in winter as they do in summer.

今回取り上げるのは “creep up on” です。creepにはゆっくり進むという意味があることから、徐々に迫ってくるイメージがわきます。『ライトハウス英和辞典』（第5版　研究社）で調べると、 “creep up on …” で「（人）に忍び寄る」とありました。
LDOCEには“to seem to come sooner than you expect” と定義されておりますが、それ以外にも“to surprise someone by walking up behind them silently” や “if a feeling or idea creeps up on you, it gradually increases” という意味もあることがわかりました。

記事内の “dehydration creeps up on you” という部分には、気がつかないうちに脱水症になっていく様子が表現されているのではないかと思いました。
