for one’s part 復習

　昨日の裏ゼミでは、スピードスケート女子の小平奈緒選手に関する記事（日本語の記事と英語の記事の両方）をいくつか読みました。その中の1つです。

Kodaira sets sights on world record

Speed skater Nao Kodaira has her eye on another achievement after winning gold in the women’s 500 meters at the Pyeongchang Olympics — a world record in the same event.

At a press conference on Monday at the Japan House in Pyeongchang, Kodaira reviewed her victory in the 500 meters, her favorite event, in which she set an Olympic record. “I’m very happy to be able to have achieved something I had dreamed of,” she said.
“The medal is a result of the work I put in and the support I received from many people,” Kodaira added.

Kodaira expressed enthusiasm, however, saying, “For my part, I want to continue speed skating a bit longer.”

　for my partを取り上げます。partは部分、役、音楽関連では音部など、多義語として様々な使われ方をしますが、ここではどのような意味になるでしょうか。『ライトハウス英和辞典』（第5版　研究社）で調べると “for one’s part” の形で「（格式）…（の方）としては、（as far as … is concerned ）」とありました。例としては “For my part, I have nothing to say about it.” という一文で「私としてはそれについて何も言うことはない。」と説明されています。

　LDOCEには “for my/his part etc” の形で “used when saying what a particular person thinks or does, as opposed to other people” と定義されています。

　記事の内容に戻ると、自分の意思としては、もう少し競技を続けたいと考えていることが読み取れます。記者会見などのきっちりとした場面で使われる言い回しであるというところを押さえておきたいです。（aqua）
