Fukuoka taxi company offers chilling rides for Halloween
Blood-splattered drivers and skeletons riding shotgun await “lucky” customers in a taxi company’s spooky Halloween campaign here.
The Lucky Taxi company began the campaign on Oct. 15 to create greater enthusiasm for Halloween in this city on Kyushu in western Japan.
From Oct. 29 to 31, drivers will put on special make-up to further “scare” and delight passengers and pedestrians. Their cars are specially painted for the occasion.
“Some passengers are surprised at how gaudy the taxi interior is,” said one driver, Mitsuru Yamaki, 58.
Only two cabs are painted in the Halloween vein so anyone spotting one can be considered lucky.

記事の内容に戻りますと、gaudyを用いることで、車内の派手さが少し受け入れ難いというニュアンスを表しているように思われました。（aqua）
