The KTT Cup Vantelin Ladies Open, set to start Friday at the Kumamoto Kuko Country Club, was canceled amid safety concerns following a powerful earthquake that hit Kyushu on Thursday night.

Organizers and other officials of the Japan LPGA event met Friday morning and decided it would be difficult to ensure the safety of players and the gallery from the possibility of aftershocks, which are expected to last more than a week.
