That's a wrap

みなさんはすでに今年マフラーは購入しましたでしょうか。私は迷い症で結局ほとんど買う事なく冬が終わってしまう事があります。特にアメリカでは先週ストームAthenaが東海岸を訪れ、吹雪を街が襲った為、冬物のファッショングッズを買い直す事を検討している人が増えているそうです。今そんな人の為にショッピングサイト『shop the look』の女性の冬物グッズが紹介されていました。Style.comから英語表現を拾います。

今回注目するのは見出しのThat's a wrapです。以前Koyamamoto先輩が取り上げておられたように(wrap up - 田邉祐司ゼミ 常時英心：言葉の森から)、wrapは「巻きつける」という意味の他にwrap upは〈契約などを〉うまく成立させる；〈試合に〉勝利を収める」という意味がありますが、「《略式》〈仕事・議論など〉を終わりにする；・・・を要約する」といったニュアンス(『ジーニアス英和辞典』第4版、大修館書店)もあります。that's a wrapはそこから派生した表現であると考えられます。
そしてurban dictionaryには”From film industry acronym "Wind reel and print" meaning rewind the film and print the rushes. Said by the director at the end of a scene, indicating that everything appears to be satisfactory. Hence; any task or event is complete.”と定義されていました。映画を撮り終わる時などに使われるようになった表現のようで「終了！」という意味を表すイディオムであると考えられます。よってこの見出しは何を買おうか迷っている人に「迷うのは終了！」としているのではないでしょうか。(EnDough)
