ハンカチ世代の一人，唐川投手がロッテの勝利に大きな貢献をしました。見出しにKarakawa carries Lotteとありますが，ここでのcarryは「支える」という意味です（『ジーニアス英和大辞典』大修館書店）。carryは「何かを運ぶ」というよりも，実は「支える」という元々のイメージを持っているのです（『一億人の英文法』）。唐川投手がロッテを支え，良い流れへと運ぶ事ができるかどうか楽しみです。（Sugiuchi）

Karakawa carries Lotte

Yuki Karakawa carried a perfect game into the seventh inning but had to settle for a complete-game victory as the Chiba Lotte Marines knocked off the Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks 4-1 on Saturday at Fukuoka Yahoo! Japan Dome.
Seiichi Uchikawa broke up the perfect game in the seventh with a one-out single, and Karakawa (2-1) allowed a run on two hits in eighth. The righty gave up just four hits and fanned five for the win.
Saburo Omura had two hits, including an RBI single in the first inning, and Kazuya Fukuura added two hits and an RBI.
In Central League action at Koshien Stadium, Masahiko Morino keyed a six-run first inning with a two-run double as the Chunichi Dragons defeated the Hanshin Tigers 7-4.
Righty Shinji Tajima (1-0) threw four-plus innings of relief to earn his first pro win.
Elsewhere, games between the Yomiuri Giants and the Yokohama DeNA BayStars, and the Orix Buffaloes and Saitama Seibu Lions were rained out.
