’Stars stretch streak to 6
The Yokohama DeNA BayStars are lighting up the Central League in May.
Rookie left-hander Shota Imanaga tossed 6⅔ innings of one-run ball to help DeNA reach the .500 mark by winning its sixth consecutive game, a 3-1 decision over the Hiroshima Carp on Saturday at Yokohama Stadium.
Yoshitomo Tsutsugo belted a two-run home run, while Tomo Otosaka added an RBI single to back Imanaga, who started the season slowly but has now evened his record at 4-4. He scattered six hits and two walks with eight strikeouts to help DeNA improve to 15-6 this month.
The league’s front-running Carp had seven hits, but couldn’t manage more than a run against the BayStars, who lead Nippon Pro Baseball in team ERA.
First-year Carp hurler Akitake Okada (0-2) fired six strong innings, allowing two runs on six hits and two walks with five strikeouts, but came away with the loss.
DeNA’s Tomoya Mikami worked a 1-2-3 eighth, and Yasuaki Yamasaki pitched around a hit and a walk in the ninth for his league-leading 13th save.
Tsutsugo opened the scoring with a two-run blast in the fourth inning, his 12th.
Hiroshima broke through for its only run in the seventh inning as pinch-hitter Ryuhei Matsuyama banged a two-out RBI single to right.

Merriam-Webster.comでは“baseball : a run that is scored as a result of a specific batter's hit, walk, etc.”と定義されていました。
今回の場合、“added an RBI single”で「タイムリーヒットを放ち追加点を上げた」などと解釈できます。(Blue Sky
