Elton John on Wednesday announced a three-year farewell world tour, saying he would quit traveling afterward to focus on life with his family.

“go out with a bang” を取り上げます。bangはドアなどがバタンと音をたてて閉まる様子を表すのに用いられますが、ここではどのような意味を表しているのでしょうか。『ライトハウス英和辞典』（第5版 研究社）で調べると “go ( over, off ) with a bang” で「（略式）（公演、パーティーなどが）大成功をおさめる」とありました。イギリス英語では “go off” の形になるようです。LDOCEには “with a bang” の形で “in a very successful way” と定義されています。
この記事ではoverではなくout が用いられていますが、出て行くという意味で捉えるとすると、最後のコンサートで大成功をおさめて引退するということを表しているのではないかと思いました。（aqua）
