If 2011 was the year of the quirky and unexpected at City Hall, 2012 promises to be serious and meaty. That was bound to be the case with the election of Mayor Ed Lee, the longtime bureaucrat who is driven around in a four-door Ford Fusion sedan and has demanded that his Jan. 8 inauguration feature nothing splashier than kids' choral groups. His first major move of the new year will be naming the replacement for District Five supervisor now that Ross Mirkarimi has been elected sheriff. Another major appointment for Lee will come when Public Utilities Commission General Manager Ed Harrington retires, likely this summer.

今回注目するのはput one’s stamp onという表現です。stampと聞くと首長の裁決を想起します。以上のことを踏まえるとすでにあらゆる「懸案事項に採決を下している」つまり、「事実上、始動をはじめている」という意味になります。またserious faceは彼の「顔、姿勢」と印鑑の「印章」がかけあわせられていることもわかります。「大阪維新の会」のような動きが他の国でも行われていることを知りました。時代の流れには逆らえないものです。（ゼミ生 Lbow-Shoulder）
