Visitors can see the production process while learning about the history and attractiveness of dairy products. I visited on the day that students of Nanae Elementary School in Bando, Ibaraki Prefecture, were on a field trip to the factory.

After the factory tour, the students entered the round food education room and sat at tables. Okaami then asked the students, “Of the bones made in your body when you were a baby, how many remain?” The answer is none. Only one student answered correctly. Bones are destroyed by osteoclastic cells and new bones are created by osteoblastic cells. Bones grow by repeating this process, so the bones of a newborn baby do not remain when the baby has grown up, according to Okaami.

English will become an elementary school subject and students will start learning English grammar in the fifth grade, according to a proposal by the education ministry to revise the current teaching guidelines. 4 climbers die on Italian-Swiss border after ice wall cracks
Four mountain climbers were killed Thursday after a slab of ice from a frozen waterfall detached from a mountainside near Italy's northern border with Switzerland, Alpine rescue authorities said.
A fifth climber survived the incident in Gressony-Saint-Jean, in the Val d'Aosta region.
The head of the Val d'Aosta Alpine rescue service, Adriano Favre, told Italian media the sudden rise in temperatures on Wednesday might have caused the chunk of ice to melt enough for it to detach.
The surviving climber apparently had reached a ledge above where the frozen waterfall cracked off, with the other four climbers below. The survivor was rescued by Alpine teams.

Human trafficking victims at most ever
A total of 25 Japanese were victimized by human trafficking in Japan in 2016, the highest since statistics started in 2001, National Police Agency data showed Thursday.
The total was up 12 from the previous year.
Of the Japanese victims, 84 percent were forced into prostitution and 13 people were aged between 10 and 19, according to the agency.
One-third of the Japanese victims got to know the human trafficking suspects through the use of social networking services.
Besides the Japanese, eight Thais, seven Cambodians, five Filipinos and one Vietnamese were victimized by human trafficking in Japan last year.

The bill, banning girls aged 17 or younger from providing intimate services to customers and allowing on-site inspections by police, was compiled by the Metropolitan Police Department and will be deliberated at the assembly’s regular sessions starting next week.
If it is enacted, the ordinance, including penalties for violations, will be put into effect on July 1.

サムスンのイ・ジェヨン副会長が逮捕されました。贈賄などの容疑がかけられております。この事件は朴槿恵大統領が弾劾された一連の事件と結びつきがあります。
記事の中で気になった表現は"flight risk"です。『Wisdom英和辞典第三版』（三省堂）を調べると"flight"で「《危険･問題などからの》 逃避, 逃走 ; 敗走」 などという意味がありました。Oxford Dictionaries.comには"A person thought likely to leave the country before a trial or bail hearing"と定義されております。韓国のGDPの2割を稼ぐ巨大財閥のトップが逮捕されるとなると韓国全体にも大きな影響を及ぼすと思われます。(Ume)
Samsung heir Lee Jae-yong arrested in South Korea
Samsung is accused of giving donations to non-profit foundations operated by Choi Soon-sil, a friend of Ms Park, in exchange for government favours.
Mr Lee and the Samsung Group deny any wrongdoing.
The acting Samsung chief was first questioned by prosecutors in January, but they decided then not to arrest him.
But he was questioned for a second time earlier this week.
On Friday, the court said it "acknowledged that it is necessary to arrest [Lee Jae-Yong] in light of a newly added criminal charge and new evidence."
The prosecution will now investigate further, and has 20 days to file formal charges. The arrest does not reflect a court opinion on guilt or innocence but only means it considers the potential crime very serious or that it assumes a flight risk.
