取り上げるのはprolific /prəlífɪk/ です。『ジーニアス英和辞典』によると「〈作家・芸術家が〉多作の;〈想像力が〉豊かな;〈スポーツ選手が〉特典の能力が高い」「〈人・動物が〉多産の;〈植物，作物などが〉実りの多い(fruitful)」「多く存在する」と状況に応じて様々な意味に変化することがわかりました。

上記で用いられている1番目の意味はLDOCEで“a prolific artist, writer etc produces many works of art, books etc”と定義されています。

語源はラテン語のproles ‘offspring’ (=子，子孫，成果，結果)からきています。(Kiwi girl)
