A solution for the age-old problem of drinkers’ boozy breath has been found, according to leading sake maker Gekkeikan Sake Co.--and it has been right under their nose for years.

記事にあったright under one’s noseを取り上げます。直訳すると「鼻の下」となりますが、この意味ではなさそうです。

『ジーニアス英和辞典』第４版（大修館）で調べると「＜人＞の鼻先で, 目の前で, すぐ近くで」とありました。
LDOCEでは “if something bad or illegal happens under someone’s nose, they do not notice it even though it is happening very close to them and they should have noticed it”, “if something is right under someone’s nose, they cannot see it even though it is very close to them” と定義されています。例文は “The key right under my nose all the time.” と使われています。

日本語でいう「目と鼻の先」を、英語ではunder one’s noseと表していることがわかりました。また日本語の定義よりも、英語のほうが細かいニュアンスが含まれています。
