straight man 復習
シェイクスピアの授業で先生が使っていた表現を拾います。straight manです。Sir Andrew(the “straight man” to Sir Toby’s wit)と、登場人物の説明書きとして用いられていました。さっそく意味を確認していきます。
Oxford Dictionary of English (2th): “the person in a comedy duo who speaks lines which give a comedian the opportunity to make jokes”
Merriam Webster: “a member of a comedy team who feeds lines to a partner who in turn replies with usually humorous quips”
Cambridge Dictionary: “In a comedy act between two people, the straight man is the more serious of the two who is often made to look stupid by his or her partner.”

つまり二人の掛け合い、漫才のツッコミ役、という訳がほかにも合うのではないでしょうか。ちなみに反対の「ボケ役」は単純にfunny man で表すことが可能です。（ko-chi @ Calgary）
