今回取り上げる表現は、 take center stageです。
『ジーニアス英和辞典』（第五版，大修館）で調べたところ、無冠詞で「脚光を浴びる，注目の的となる」と載っておりました。
インターネットサイトＭＡＣＭＩＬＬＡＮ ＤＩＣＴＩＯＮＡＲＹによると、center stageで “a situation in which someone or something is attracting a lot of interest or attention”となり、take center stageは “attract interest, attention, or activity”と同様の意味を持つと書かれております。
イメージとして日本語でもAKB 48の登場とともに人口に膾炙するようになったアイドルなどのセンターポジションを思い浮かべました。
