　キューバとアメリカが関係改善に向けて動き出しましたが，両国の関係が悪化したキューバ危機当時，ケネディ大統領は"clear and present danger"と発言しました。これは「今そこにある危機」と訳せます。「そこ」とはキューバを指しおります。キューバ危機とは，1962年にキューバを舞台として，アメリカソ連が，核戦争一歩手前まで緊張を高めていたとのことです（キューバ危機 - Wikipedia）。1989年には"clear and present danger"という小説をTom Clancyが執筆しております。また，映画のタイトルにもなっております。映画の中の最後には，ケネディ大統領の演説も使われていたそうです（今ここにある危機 - まさおさまの 何でも倫理学）。まさに当時を反映した映画であったのですね。当時のことはよく分かりませんが，時代を生きた人からすると，両国の関係改善は歴史的な一歩であると痛感しました。（Ume）

He announced that America would begin a quarantine of Cuba to prevent any more Soviet ships from delivering nuclear missles to the island nation. This image depicts the President during that speech. The time had come for President Kennedy to brief the American people. He had reached his first-response decision: a "strict quarantine on all offensive military equipment under shipment to Cuba." He signed the quarantine order (Proclamation 3504) in the Oval Office.
