As of 4 p.m. on Sept. 30, the typhoon was situated about 50 kilometers east of Cape Ashizuri in the western Japan prefecture of Kochi, and was moving northeast at 45 kilometers per hour. Its center had an atmospheric pressure of 950 hectopascals and it was packing winds of up to 45 meters per second (162 kph), with maximum gusts of 60 m/s (216 kph).
