Warm welcome for tourists at Narita Airport visitor center

Foreign tourists can experience Japan’s “omotenashi” hospitality culture as soon as they land at Narita Airport this fall with the opening of a new Visitor Service Center.

The facility will bring together the airport’s numerous visitor services in one place, at arrivals in the airport’s Terminal 1, with the aim of improving the inbound customer experience.

“We want to create an area that will serve as the ‘starting point of their trip to Japan’ for each and every visitor,” said a Narita International Airport Corp. (NAA) official.

NAA announced that the new facility is designed to improve convenience for the increasing number of visitors to Japan by providing a one-stop information and service center to offer a greater sense of reassurance and comfort during their stay in Japan.

　one-stopを取り上げます。直訳すると「一度立ち止まる」となりますが、どのような意味になるのでしょうか。手持ちの紙辞書には記載されていませんでしたが、電子辞書の『ジーニアス英和辞典』（第4版　大修館書店）には形容詞で「（店やサービスが）ワンストップの、1か所ですべてが済む」とありました。日本語でもカタカナで「ワンストップ」と用いるようです。

　Merriam-Websterには “providing or offering a comprehensive range of goods or services at one location; also : provided or offered at such a location” と定義されており、例に “one–stop shopping” が挙げられています。

　記事の本文では “a one-stop information and service center” とすることで、滞在に必要な情報収集やサービスを受けるのに、この１ヶ所で解決できることが伺えます。（aqua）
