EastEnders' Gemma McCluskie murder: Brother guilty
The brother of former EastEnders actress Gemma McCluskie has been found guilty of her murder and told he will serve at least 20 years in jail.
Tony McCluskie, 36, of Shoreditch, east London, had admitted manslaughter at the Old Bailey but denied her murder.

まずはじめにzestには「[…に対する]熱意、強い興味、大喜び」という意味があり（『ジーニアス英和辞典　第３版』大修館書店）zest for lifeで「生［人生・生きること］への［に対する］熱意」という意味になります。(英辞郎on the WEB) また、lose one's zest for life で「生きる意欲を失う、人生への情熱を失う」になります。(ibid)　
zestには「面白味、興奮」という意味の他に、フランス語の語源で「(香辛料としての)レモン[オレンジ]の皮」とあり（『ジーニアス英和辞典　第３版』大修館書店）、なぜここから「熱意」といった意味が生まれたのか気になったので調べたところ、Wiktionaryに"The original meaning is 2. Meaning 1. ("enthusiasm") is metaphorical; confer to give a zest to, meaning "to add piquancy to", which can be done with a zest (meaning 2.)."とあり、「ぴりっとさせる」（Wiktionary日本語版）という意味から派生したようです。
