昨日、取り上げたdeadheadの続編です。ブログを見た卒業生からのfollow-upです。「便乗社員」という業界語を辞書にエンターしましょう。（UG）
I was sitting in a passenger seat as a "Binjo-shain". FAs on duty did not serve me anything. Thus I was literally a "deadhead". After I arrived at ⚫︎ Airport, I resumed my work as an FA for the next two flights. legless 復習

今回取り上げる語は、legless /ˈlɛɡləs/ です。基本単語である leg「足」に less が付いているので「足のない」と読めますが、記事の写真を見てわかるように、男性が「酔っ払っている」ことを表す単語だと推測できます。シンプルな表現ですが、面白さを感じたので、以下で見ていきます。
この語の意味を Cambridge Dictionary でみると、“extremely drunk” とありました。また、Collins Dictionary には “If you say that someone is legless, you mean that they are extremely drunk.” と定義されています。LDOCE には イギリス英語で informal という情報も載っていました。
おそらくひどく酔っ払っている人は、まるで足がないかのごとくふらつくこと、あるいは立ち上がれない様子からこのような表現が出てきたのだと推測できます。
以上のことから、legless は「ひどく酔った」という意味であることがわかりました。(OkaUchi)

ハロウィンにぴったりのお酒を紹介します。
Yes, the name sounds gory, but this kiwano toxic sludge margarita, from Family Spice, is quite delicious. The not-so-secret ingredient: kiwano, a spiky orange fruit you’ll find at the grocery store with all of the other exotic fruits (you know, the ones no one is quite sure how to use). カクテルのレシピの中からsludge /slˈʌdʒ/ を紹介します。
『ジーニアス英和辞典』第４版（大修館）には「汚泥；ぬかるみ, 雪解け；軟泥, ヘロド；（タンクなどの中の）沈積物」などとありました。
Oxford Living Dictionariesは “thick, soft, wet mud or a similar viscous mixture or liquid and solid components, especially the product of an industrial or refining process” と定義しています。
つまり、この記事では「どろっとしたお酒」という訳ができるでしょう。
残念ながら語源を探すことができなったのですが、過去のブログに記載されていました。ぜひ確認してみて下さい。

フェイスブックの個人情報がサイバー攻撃によって大量に流出した問題で、2900万人の利用者が被害を受けたことがわかりました。

Cyber-attackers stole data from 29 million Facebook accounts using an automated program that moved from one friend to the next, Facebook Inc. announced on Friday, as the social media company said its largest-ever data theft hit fewer than the 50 million profiles it initially reported.
The company said it would message affected users over the coming days to tell them what type of information had been accessed in the attack.

scam /skˈæm/ を取り上げます。前にあるphishingと合わせて考えると、フィッシングの手口や方法といった意味になるのではないかと思いました。『ライトハウス英和辞典』（第5版 研究社）で引くと「（略式）詐欺、ぺてん」とありました。
LDOCEには “a clever but dishonest way to get money” と定義されています。全うではない方法でお金を稼ぐことをさすようです。例文には “He got involved in a credit card scam.” とあり、クレジットカード詐欺などにはscamが用いられることがわかりました。
語源についてははっきりとしたことは分かっていないようですが、Online Etymology Dictionaryには “British slang scamp “cheater, swindler”” と説明されていました。（aqua）

『ウィズダム英和辞典』を引いたところ、「≪…と≫…を混ぜ合わせる≪with≫」とありました。また、LDOCEでは“to mix together or mix something with something else”と定義されています。定義にはありませんが、インターネットで例文を確認してみると、異なる感情が混ざるというように、形のないものが混ざることを表現するのによく用いられる表現のようです。(Blue Sky)

grey-hairedを取り上げます。直訳すると「灰色の髪色の」となりますが、今回は「年配の」といった意味になりそうです。
手持ちの『ジーニアス英和辞典』に記載がなかったのでインターネットで調べました。Weblioによると「年齢の特徴を示し、特に灰色か白髪を持っている」と記載されていました。
『オックスフォード現代英英辞典』によると、特にイギリスでgrey-hairと表記され、アメリカではgray-hairedとされているようです。

今回はdrool /drúːl/ を取り上げます。文脈からこの記事が魅力的であるいった意味のことをいっているのだろうなと予測することができました。
『ジーニアス英和辞典』（第四版、大修館書店）には「よだれをたらす」や「〔…を〕楽しみにして待つ、〔…に〕大げさに喜ぶ、うっとりと見つめる」とありました。LDOCEではto let saliva (=the liquid in your mouth) come out of your mouthやto show in a silly way that you like someone or something a lotと定義されています。
slobberという単語も「よだれをたらす」という意味です。違いを調べてみました。slobberはLDOCEにto let saliva (=the liquid produced by your mouth) come out of your mouth and run downと定義されていたので、slobberの方がdroolよりも程度が激しいのだと思います。
ちなみにこの記事では日本の料理も３つ紹介されていました。あん肝と近江牛とお寿司です。あん肝は食べたことがないのでいつか食べてみたいと思います。(rain)
