Kibo’s pledges lack responsibility for a party seeking to take power
Kibo no To (Party of Hope) has hammered out a constructive campaign platform on constitutional revision and security. The party would be able to avoid criticism as simply being a “second Democratic Party.”
Kibo has unveiled election pledges for the upcoming House of Representatives election. In its pledges, the party has specified its stance to “work on a wide range of issues” through constitutional amendments, including decentralization of power and the people’s right to know.

“hammer out”を取り上げます。『ウィズダム英和辞典』を引いたところ、“hammer A out [out A]”で「A〈結果・政策など〉を徹底的に検討して考え出す；A〈意見の相違など〉を徹底的に議論して合意を打ち出す」とありました。また、LDOCEでは“to decide on an agreement, contract etc after a lot of discussion and disagreement”と定義されています。『ウィズダム英和辞典』の定義にもありますが、日本語では「目標を打ち出す」と言うことがありますが、英語でも同じように表現することがあるようです。(Blue Sky)
