14-yr-old becomes youngest licensed guide interpreter
Have you heard of the national qualification to be a guide interpreter (see below)? A license is necessary to work as a professional interpreter for foreign tourists, and more and more people are taking the required exam ahead of the 2020 Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games.
In January this year, a junior high school girl in Tokyo passed the examination, which is garnering national attention. Yuka Hasumoto, now 14 and a third-year student at Toshimagaoka-Joshigakuen Junior High School, has tied the record for being the youngest successful candidate.
