Imperial couple express concern for quake victims at garden party
Emperor Akihito and Empress Michiko hosted their spring garden party in Tokyo on April 27, and expressed their concern to a senior city government official from Kumamoto Prefecture over the recent earthquakes.
The 1,800 guests at the Akasaka Imperial Gardens in the capital's Moto-Akasaka district included astronaut Kimiya Yui and Tatsuaki Nagahara, the vice mayor of Yatsushiro city in Kumamoto Prefecture.
Dignitaries and people from all walks of life attended. The imperial couple also hosts a garden party each autumn.
