これは明らかに「怠慢」のニュアンスが伝わる語です。しかも，イギリス英語的表現ということで，ピッタリはまります。
他に思い浮かぶ-shyが付く語は「（過去の体験から）過剰に臆病になって」という意味のgun-shyが挙げられます。『スポーツからきた英語表現辞典』によりますと，狩猟の時の表現で，「猟犬が慢性的に銃の音を怖がる｟狩猟の役に立たない｠」というところから来ております。
ウィリアム王子は公務の他，民間職にも就いており、救急ヘリコプターの操縦などをしているそうですが，勤務時間が短いと。批判を浴びています。このニュースの前から，似たような問題はあったということです。因みに，イギリスWorkshyというポップミュージック系バンドの存在を，この語をアップすることを通して知った次第です。この見出し語と関係があるのでしょうか。（Kawada）

息子を守るために父親が咄嗟に反応した決定的瞬間を捉えた写真がネット上で話題となっています。記事はThe Telegraphからの引用です。
採り上げるのはabove where the protective netting stoppedという部分。意味は「防護用ネットが掛けられているところを超えて」つまり「防護用ネットの最高点」と解釈できます。今回気になったのはstopの使い方です。stopというと動いている物が「停止する」ような感覚がありますが，英英辞書にはto not continue, or to make someone or something not continueという解説とともにThis is where the path stopsという用例が挙げられていました（LDOCE）。道路や記事のネットのように続いていたものが終わるときにもstopを用いるのですね。記事を読んでいて採り上げた箇所の解釈に苦しむことはありませんでしたが，日本語から英語に訳す際に，防護用ネットが「終わる」という意味でstopを思い浮かべることが私にはできなかったので採り上げてみました。（Koyamamoto）

ECB reveals surprise stimulus moves
The ECB will also expand its quantitative easing programme from €60bn to €80bn a month.
The scheme will now include the purchase of corporate bonds as well as government debt.
The bank has also decided to cut the bank deposit rate further, from minus 0.3% to minus 0.4%.
That means banks must pay more to deposit funds with the ECB and is intended to encourage them to lend more rather than hoard cash.
The package of measures, including the decision to cut the benchmark interest rate, was more radical than investors had expected.
