entrenchの動詞形です。『スーパーアンカー英和辞典』第5版（学研教育出版）には，「[比ゆ的に]しばしば軽べつして」堅固な地位[位置]を固める；（権利・習慣・信条などが）固定化した」（“strongly established and not likely to change – often used to disapproval”— LDOCE5）とありました。
ですが，辞書の定義にある「[しばしば軽べつして]」が気になります。この案に異を唱える人が居てもおかしくはないということを表しているのでしょうか。「経済上の異変が起こると，バカの一つ覚えみたいにまたマイナス（金利）に踏み切るのか」と言った見方もあるのかもしれません。ですが，この案は既に決定してしまいました。
EU離脱にもめているイギリスの問題に加えてマイナス金利が，EUや世界に対してのダブルパンチ（double whammy）になりかねない事態にならないことを祈ります。（Kawada）

今月10日に高徳院の鎌倉大仏の点検作業が終了し、11日からは胎内拝観も再開されます。

KAMAKURA, Kanagawa Prefecture--He might be eight centuries old, but the Daibutsu Great Buddha here is in better shape than ever after a two-month "health checkup" was completed March 10.
Scaffolding and translucent sheets that covered the Buddha during the cleaning and checking procedure have now been removed. The work that got under way Jan. 13 at Kotokuin temple was the Buddha's first major checkup in 55 years.
Visitors can once again climb inside the bronze statue from March 11.

US election 2016: Trump and Rubio row over Islam 'hate'
Republican presidential hopeful Marco Rubio has attacked Donald Trump for saying that Islam hates America, in a televised debate in Miami.
Mr Rubio, who faces a do-or-die contest in Florida on Tuesday, said Islam had a problem with radicalisation but said that many Muslims were proud Americans.
"Presidents can't just say whatever they want. It has consequences," he said, to cheers from the audience.
The four Republicans heeded pleas from party leaders to have a civil debate.

LOS ANGELES — Lakers fans are spending hundreds of dollars on tickets to bid farewell to Kobe Bryant as he winds down his final season in a Hall of Fame-caliber career. They are coming to Los Angeles from out of state and from overseas. They are skipping work and sacrificing vacation days.
They might want to go to Phoenix, instead. Or New Orleans, or Salt Lake City, or anywhere else the Lakers are scheduled to play road games, because there has been a strange twist in the Kobe Bryant farewell tour: He is skipping a lot of home games, but not missing many chances to say goodbye to opponents’ fans.
…Bryant has been doing his best to play through pain and manage injuries that, in other seasons, might have compelled him to rest for weeks. In recent days, he has expressed his desire, for the sake of his fans, to be on the court as much as humanly possible. After playing in Denver on March 2, Bryant said he knew he needed to make an effort to play more games at home.
Bryant reiterated that notion after playing at home on Sunday in the Lakers’ upset victory over the Golden State Warriors. “I just feel terrible not being able to be out here every single game,” he said on the court during the ABC television broadcast. “It’s been tough laboring with the shoulder a little bit. For the last year, if I can give it a go, I’ll go out there and try.”
