各地で成人式が行われましたが、ある地域ではド派手な式となりました。

記事の中からas if you own the placeを紹介します。直訳すると「まるで自分の場所であるかのように」となりますが、こなれ訳ではありません。

LDOCEには “to behave in a way that is too confident and upsets other people” と定義されています。つまり「自信満々に」という意味であることがわかりました。また文中にはstrut /strˈʌt/ 「気取って[反り返って]歩く」(ジーニアス英和辞典)とあり、大股である歩く姿が思い浮かびます。(amphibian)
