今年の最後に取り上げる語はprankster /ˈpræŋkstər/ です。文脈から「いたずらをする人」であると推測しました。

『ジーニアス英和辞典』(第五版、大修館書店)では「ふざける人、いたずら者」とあります。また、LDOCEでは “someone who plays tricks on people to make them look silly” と定義されています。例文を見ていくと、Is it an emergency, or just a midnight prankster?やA final provocative statement from a life-long prankster, a prodigal son of Harvard, it seems so fittingなどが載っていました。

出現の理由は、40年前に行われた植林方法に隠されていました。これからは観光資源にもなる予定なので、気になります。(seventh-dan)
