今回はa slew ofを紹介します。slew /slúː/ はslay /sleɪ/ 「殺す」の過去形ですが、ここでは違う意味で使われています。

『ジーニアス英和辞典』第４版（大修館）には「たくさん, 多数[の…]」とありました。LDOCEは “a large number of things” と定義しています。
記事では “a slew of illegal acts” とあり「違法行為をする多くの人々」といった解釈ができます。

また、過去ブログには「a large number ofとは微妙なニュアンスがあり、話者のうんざり感が含まれる」とありました。(amphibian)
