formative 復習

　昨日の「英語科教育研究」の授業では、学習の到達度を測る方法としてのテストについて学びました。そこで取り上げられていたテストの種類に「形式的評価テスト」があり、英語では Formative evaluation というそうです。このformative
/fˈɔɚməṭɪv/ には、人間が成長していく過程の中で、自己が形成されていく大切な時期を表し、formative yearsという使われ方をすると先生がおっしゃっていました。『ライトハウス英和辞典』（第5版　研究社）で見てみると「（限定）形成する；（形成期に）重要な」とありました。例には “He spent his formative years in London.” で「彼は成長期をロンドンで過ごした。」と説明されています。

　LDOCEには “having an important influence on the way someone or something develops” と定義されており、 “formative years/period/stages etc (=the period when someone’s character develops)” などの形で用いられるようです。人の場合は、その人の特徴や性格などの内面が形作られる重要な時期にあたることがわかりました。（aqua）

PS From 0:15 a.m. through 0:40 a.m., an alarm bell had been going off in my apartment. At first, I thought a fire broke out in someone's room, but it was a false alarm. I got tired because the sound was so noisy, lasting for good 25 minutes. I hope it will never happen again at night.
