今回気になったのは、knife-wielding です。文脈から、「ナイフを所持した」と予測しました。以下で確認していきます。
まず、wielding をLDOCEで引いてみると、wield で “to have a lot of power or influence, and to use it” や、“to hold a weapon or tool that you are going to use” と載っていました。単に道具を使うのではなく、武器として使うことが伺えます。
また『ウィズダム英和辞典』には、「〈人が〉（権力・影響力など）を握る、振るう、〈武器・道具など〉を使う、持つ」とありました。
