disgruntled /dɪsˈɡrʌntld/ を取り上げます。dis-からマイナスなイメージが伝わる語です。以下で意味等を確認していきます。
『ジーニアス英和辞典』(第五版、大修館書店)には「(...に)不満な、不機嫌な、いらいらした」とあります。また、LDOCEでは “annoyed or disappointed , especially because things have not happened in the way that you wanted” と定義されています。Oxford Living Dictionariesをみると語源はMid 17th century: from dis- (as an intensifier) + dialect gruntle ‘utter little grunts’, from grunt.と載っていました。
こうした実態の原因は何なのでしょうか。１つには出版社に払う購読料が年々上がっていることが挙げられます。海賊版と聞くと、漫画のイメージでしたが、研究の世界にも存在していたことに驚きです。(seventh-dan)
