大阪府警富田林署からの逃走で、指名手配されていた樋田淳也容疑者の逃走劇は、遂に幕切れとなりました。

気になったのはabscond /əbˈskɒnd/ です。文脈から「逃亡する」と推測しました。
『ジーニアス英和辞典』(第五版、大修館書店)では「(...から)姿をくらます、逃亡する、脱走する、(金などを)持ち逃げする」とあります。また、LDOCEでは “to escape from a place where you are being kept” “to secretly leave somewhere, taking with you something that does not belong to you” と定義されています。Oxford Living Dictionariesでは、由来はMid 16th century (in the sense ‘hide, conceal oneself’): from Latin abscondere ‘hide’, from ab- ‘away, from’ + condere ‘stow’.となっています。
1ヶ月半にも渡る逃走の末、確保された場所は山口県周南市の道の駅でした。そうなるとやはり、容疑者の逃走経路が気になります。更には、動機すらも謎のままです。一つ一つが明らかになるのを待ちたいと思います。(seventh-dan)
