　hoist /hˈɔɪst/ を取り上げます。後ろにthe U.S. Open trophyがきていることから、hoistは「掲げる」といった意味なのではないかと考えました。

　『ウィズダム英和辞典』を引いたところ、第2義に「〈旗・帆など〉を掲げる」とありました。また、LDOCEでは“to raise, lift, or pull something up, especially using ropes”と定義されています。『ウィズダム英和辞典』には第1義に「(ロープ・クレーンなどで)A〈重いものなど〉を持ち[つり]上げる(up)」がきていました。何かものを使ってものを引き上げるというのが原義であるようです(Blue Sky)
