文脈から「ひどい」であると推測しました。
『ジーニアス英和辞典』(第五版、大修館書店)では「(誤りなどが)実にひどい、はなはだしい、目にあまる」とあります。また、LDOCEでは “an egregious mistake, failure, problem etc is extremely bad and noticeable” と説明されています。「英・語・源」をみると、ラテン語のgregare(=to collect)が由来であることが分かります。
今回の騒動は、選手一人一人が日本代表だという自覚と責任感をきちんと持てなかったことに起因していると感じました。結果として、バスケの歴史に泥を塗ることとなってしまい残念です。(seventh-dan)
