Police arrest nurse in slaying of 88-year-old hospital patient
Kanagawa prefectural police on July 7 arrested a 31-year-old nurse on suspicion of killing an elderly hospital patient two years ago by deliberately injecting antiseptic solution into the man's IV drip.
The arrest followed voluntary questioning of the nurse, Ayumi Kuboki, who admitted to killing the patient, investigative sources said.
Kuboki, a resident of Yokohama’s Tsurumi Ward, worked at Oguchi Hospital in the city’s Kanagawa Ward, where two patients died one after another in September 2016.

antiseptic /`ænṭəséptɪk/ を取り上げます。接頭辞にあるantiから何かに対抗する物質であることがわかります。『ライトハウス英和辞典』（第5版 研究社）で調べると、名詞では「消毒剤；防腐剤」、形容詞では「殺菌色のある、防腐性の」とありました。
LDOCEには “a medicine that you put onto a wound to stop it from becoming infected” や “helping to prevent infection” と定義されています。
