文脈からは意味が取れず、気になったため調べてみることにしました。
『ジーニアス英和辞典』(第五版、大修館書店)では名詞形で「担保、担保物件、見返り担保、傍系親族」、形容詞形で「付随する、二次的な、間接の、傍系の、並び立つ、対応する、見返りの」とありました。
