淡路島にハローキティの顔の形をしたレストランができたようです。

Kids and fans of all things “kawaii” are sure to love the Hello Kitty Smile restaurant overlooking the Seto Inland Sea here, with its 11-meter-tall statue of the ubiquitous character gazing out across the water.
The venue, which opened April 27 on the coast of Awaji’s Nojima-Hikinoura district, is a 120-meter-long, cylinder-shaped facility in pure white.

今回取り上げる単語はubiquitous / juːbíkwəṭəs /です。『ジーニアス英和辞典』（第四版,大修館書店）には「（同時に）至る所にある［いる］,遍在する,時空自在の」や「ユビキタスの《情報ネットワークにいつどこからでもアクセスできる環境》」と記載されていました。また、LDOCEにはseeming to be everywhere – sometimes used humorouslyとありました。ラテン語が語源となっているようです。そして、欧米では本来 「神は何処にでも遍在する」という宗教用語として用いられるともありました。
