A 7-year-old girl who was run over by a train on May 7 had been strangled several hours earlier and placed on the railroad to make her death look like an accident, police said.
Niigata prefectural police set up a murder investigation headquarters at the Niigata-Nishi Police Station to find the killer of Tamaki Omomo, a second-grader at Kobari Elementary School.
