　今回取り上げるのはon the horizon /ɑn ðə hərάɪzn /です。『ジーニアス英和辞典』（第四版,大修館書店）には「地平線,水平線上に」といった意味のほか「兆しが見えて,起こりかかって」とありました。LDOCEにはto seem likely to happen in the futureと定義されていました。

　インターネットで調べていたところ類似表現としてin [ for ] the foreseeable futureというものを見つけました。『ジーニアス英和辞典』によると「近い将来に」という意味だと記載されていました。foreseeableが「予見できる」という意味だそうです。ビジネスでよく使われる言葉であることもわかりました。(rain)
