Prime Minister Shinzo Abe welcomed Friday’s summit talks between South Korean President Moon Jae In and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, expressing strong hope for the resolution of Pyongyang’s nuclear and missile issues as well as the issue of Japanese abductees.

“We welcome [the inter-Korea summit] as a positive move toward a comprehensive resolution of pending North Korean issues,” Abe told reporters Friday night.
