Japan's police say a record number of minors fell victim to crimes through social networking services last year.
The National Police Agency says 1,813 people under the age of 18 were victimized through social media in 2017. That is the highest number since records began in 2008.
Victims aged 15 to 17 accounted for nearly 70 percent of the total.
702 of the cases, the largest group, were victims of violations of a juvenile protection ordinance. 570 were victims of child pornography and 447 of child prostitution.
