Blooming plum flowers spring out in famous Mito garden
MITO--Kairakuen garden has been famed for its beauty of plum blossoms since its creation during the Edo Period (1603-1867).
It boasts about 3,000 plum trees of 100 species and is currently hosting this city's plum festival, with many of the blossoms almost in full bloom.

最近春の暖かさを感じ、見出しで用いられているspringの動詞の意味が気になりました。『ジーニアス英和辞典』によると「〈人・動物が〉はねる，跳ぶ，跳び上がる」とありoutをup, down, backに置き換え可能です。またjumpより堅い言い方であることがわかりました。使用例としてspring out of bedで「ベットから跳ね［飛び］起きる」となります。
LDOCEを参照すると“to move suddenly and quickly in a particular direction, especially by jumping”と定義されています。同義語にはleap [+our of/from]があります。
以前に取り上げられていますがspringは「春」「ばね」「泉」を意味するので今回は「ばね」から派生した表現だということがわかります。(Kiwi girl)
