As he pursues ways to run faster, Kiryu has opted to address one new element each year. This year, he put efforts into building up his body, and even started boxing training, working out by fiercely hitting the mitts of a partner.
“[Those workouts] use the muscles in your glutes, as well as your upper body. I wanted to build my muscles through movement, not through ordinary [weight] workouts,” Kiryu said.

glute /ɡluːt/ (glutes) に注目しました。最初はグルテンを指していると考えたのですが、どうやら違うようです。『リーダーズ英和辞典』（第3版，研究社）を引いたところ、口語で「臀筋」と載っておりました。Oxford Dictionary of English (2th) では、 “the muscles in the buttocks that move the top of the legs”と定義されております。

上記の定義をみても、どの筋肉のことであるか今一つイメージがつかめませんでした。そこで、Google画像検索したところ、まさにお尻の部分であることが分かりました。近年のエクササイズブームのせいもあってか、検索結果には美尻がずらりと載っています、(Gomez)
