“ubiquitous” /juːbíkwəṭəs/を取りあげます。Oxford living dictionaryでは“Present, appearing, or found everywhere.”と定義されており、“now-ubiquitous”で「今やどこでも見かける」となるかと思いました。 “ubique”は「あらゆる場所」を表すラテン語で、“ubi”のみで「場所」を意味します。
任天堂は特許庁に「マリカー」の商標を取り消すように申し立てていましたが、「マリカー」は「マリオカート」の略としての認知は一般的に広いとはいえないということで1月に棄却されました。(flying bird)
