bipartisan 復習
A bipartisan group of about 60 Japanese lawmakers visited Yasukuni Shrine in Tokyo on Tuesday.
The Shinto shrine honors Japan's war dead. Those remembered include leaders convicted of war crimes after World War Two.
The group usually visits the shrine for its spring and autumn festivals, as well as on August 15th -- the day Japan commemorates the end of the war.
Tuesday's visit was arranged after the lawmakers missed the autumn festival this year, as it coincided with campaigning for the October Lower House election.

“bipartisan” /baɪˈpɑːr.t̬ə.zən/ を取り上げます。『ジーニアス英和辞典第5版』(大修館) によると、「(立場の異なる)2大政党の、超党政派の、連立政党の」とありました。英英辞典をみると “supported by or consisting of two political parties” とあって2つの政党から成り立っていることを指しているとわかります。
この語は、「2つの、両方の」という意味がある接頭辞の “bi” と、「熱心な味方、同士、一味，党」というニュアンスのある “partisan” が組み合わせってできたといわれています。
念のため「超党派」を辞書で調べてみると、「主に国会議員が政党や所属している団体の枠組みを越えて協力し合うこと」を指しているため、2つの相異なる人達で1つのグループをつくるという “partisan” の意義に沿っているといえます。
靖国神社へ参拝する国会議員がいたとニュースになる度に特に海外から「あの大戦の戦犯を肯定するのか」と批判があがりますが、海外メディアは今回どう報じるのでしょう。(Hapidra)
