“angle”を取りあげます。「角度」の名詞ではない使われ方をしているようです。LDOCEでは“angle for something”で“to try to get something you want without asking directly for it”と定義されており、『ジーニアス英和辞典』（第五版、大修館書店）で確認すると「欲しいとほのめかす、（小細工して）得ようとする」とありました。後者の意味では様々な角度から思考してみる様子がわかります。ここでは「画策する」といった訳が良いかと思いました。
