　merrymakingを取り上げます。『ジーニアス英和辞典』（第五版，大修館）を引いたところ、「浮かれ騒ぎ；酒宴」と載っておりました。Oxford Dictionary of English (2th) によると、"fun; festivity "と定義されております。merrymakerになると、「浮かれ騒ぐ人」となります。
　 ちなみにmerryは「陽気な，お祭り気分の」などの意味があるため、そこから転じてできた言葉なのではないかと推測できます。(Gomez)
