Killer clown case leads to woman's arrest 27 years later
Sheila Keen, who married the slain woman's husband 12 years after the killing, was taken into custody in Abingdon, Virginia, a mountain town more than 800 miles from the site of the slaying. Keen, 54, has been charged with first-degree murder in Warren's killing 27 years ago. No plea has been entered yet.

“first degree”を取りあげます。“degree”は「度」や「程度」を表すことから数字が付くことで「（犯罪などの）等級」や「やけどなどの損傷度」を表すことがわかりました。（『ジーニアス英和辞典』（第五版、大修館書店）前回もブログで取り上げられているように「第一級殺人」は計画性のある犯罪を指します。
