Opposition party officials have said calling an election would be an attempt by Abe to dodge questioning over the cronyism scandals in a session of parliament set to begin on Thursday. Abe is expected to dissolve the chamber that same day.

今回はcronyism /króunìzm/をとりあげます。『ジーニアス英和辞典』（第五版，大修館）を引いたところ、「（官職任命の）親友びいき」などと載っておりました。Oxford Dictionary of English(Second Edition Reserved, Oxford University Press)にも、 "the appointment of friends and associates to positions of authority, without proper regard to their qualifications"などと定義されておりました。crony自体に「仲間」などの意味を持ちますが、cronyismはより政治色の強い単語のようです。 (Gomez)
