Travelers’ Treasures / Kito Yuzu Yuzumitsu (Yuzu citrus syrup)
Yuzu, valued for its unique sweet and sour tanginess and fragrance, is an important citrus fruit in Japanese cooking and seasoning. The fruit has been used since ancient time in Japan to remove negative energy and is said to prevent colds when added to baths during the winter solstice.

取り上げる語は “tanginess” / tæŋɪnəs / です。 “sour” に続くことで, どのようなテイストになるのか気になり調べてみると, 「<味が>ピリッとする」「<匂いが>ツーンとする」とありました(『リーダーズ英和中辞典』研究社)。ここでは, 柚子の甘酸っぱさのような風味を指していると考えられます。
The Free Dictionary.comには “a distinctively sharp taste, flavor, or odor, as that of orange juice” と定義されていました。よく似た表現のひとつに “pungent” が挙げられますが, こちらは “affecting the organs of taste or smell with a sharp acid sensation” とのことから, 後者はより強い刺激を表す場合に適しているのではないかと思います。(Cayu)
